Maes Hughes is an upstanding citizen. He is very perceptive and often discovers information he shouldn’t know – placing both himself and his loved ones in grave danger Additionally, he is a caring family man. He’ll often put the burden on his own shoulders just so the ones he cares about won’t have to suffer. He loves his wife Gracia dearly, and his daughter Elysia is his pride and joy. He often will pull people aside simply to show off pictures of his three-year old girl. Ultimately, he just wants the best for those around him, even if it means making a fool of himself every so often to do so.

Hughes has no superhuman abilities. However, he does carry around a set of push knives that he is skilled with. He is good with hand-to-hand combat, as well as good with weaponry. Being a man of the military, he is good with those things, as well as being organized. He was the leader of the Investigations team in Amestris, his home country, and is looking to start one here in Discedo as well.

Maes Hughes is known as being a man enthusiastic about his work and family. His wife Gracia, and his daughter, Elysia are his world. He will look for any excuse to show them off, especially to his co-workers, whom he spends a lot of time with. He considers his closes friend to be Roy Mustang, and he had quite a fondness for both the Elric brothers, as well as Winry. In canon, he met his demise when doing investigations within the Amestris State Military. When he had discovered the shady-goings on, he immediately fired Private Sheska, who was assisting him on the project. Shortly after that, he was sought out by the Homunculus Envy, and killed, simply because he knew too much information.
